ATLANTA — Kroger’s Atlanta Division is joining forces with the United Services Organization and Coca-Cola to honor our nation’s heroes and celebrate the U.S. Army’s 242nd birthday at Fort Stewart today.
A free barbecue picnic and concert, featuring Rodney Atkins and Brooke Eden, will be held for military personnel and their families from 1 to 6 p.m. on Newman Field at Fort Stewart. Blankets, camping chairs and coolers are allowed.
“We are thrilled to partner with the USO and Coca-Cola to host an event dedicated to thanking and supporting our military,” says Felix Turner, public relations manager for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Kroger is proud to continue working with the USO through our Honoring Our Heroes initiative to show our troops appreciation for their service to our country.”
A news release from the company said, “More than two million U.S. troops serve on active duty or are in the reserves today, including some of our own associates. Kroger partners with the USO through ‘Honoring Our Heroes,’ a multi-faceted program designed to show Kroger’s gratitude to our active duty troops, military families, troops transitioning into civilian life and our nation’s veterans.”
