Ogeechee Riverkeeper will have its next paddle trip May 27 beginning at 9 a.m. at the George L. Smith State Park at 371 George L. Smith State Park Road, just outside Twin City.

This trip will allow the whole family to wander through a submerged forest created by an impoundment of 15-mile Creek – a Canoochee tributary. This is one of Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s easiest paddles, so stand up paddlers and children are invited.

Luke Roberson, Ogeechee Riverkeeper’s outreach and water quality specialist, will lead it. Participants should bring lunch/snacks, water, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, appropriate shoes and a dry bag for personal items.

“It is rewarding to see paddlers enjoying the water that our organization works so hard to preserve, protect and improve,” Roberson said.

Registration for non-members is $35 per person while riverkeeper members are invited to join these paddles for free. Ogeechee Riverkeeper memberships begin at the individual level of $35.
