The first Lunchtime Concert in the Park organized by the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority for the 2009 season is Friday, featuring Biscuit Miller and the Mix.
And it is one of two concerts Friday being held in conjunction with Georgia Cities Week activities.
The second concert is from 7-9 p.m. in Main Street Park, on Main next to Coastal Bank, and featuring The Equinox Jazz Quintet.
Vicki Davis, director of the HDDA, praised both groups. Equinox has played in the area before and is a favorite of area music lovers. Biscuit Miller is out of Chicago and plays blues and funk. The group can be previewed at www.biscuitmiller.com.
"We are very fortunate to catch them passing through this area on tour," authority Davis said.
Lunchtime concert crowds range from downtown workers, Fort Stewart soldiers, civilians, families, home/private school groups, stay-at-home moms and entire offices. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert is sponsored by the Coastal Courier, HDDA, Hinesville Area Arts Council and the city of Hinesville.
The arts council is sponsoring the evening concert. You should bring your lawnchairs and picnics for it too, though there will be vendors in the area.
