TYBEE ISLAND — Take advantage of the long New Year’s weekend and ring in 2010 on Tybee Island.  This year the festivities are bigger than ever with a spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks display, Polar Bear Plunge, a free concert with beach music legends The Tams and “buy two, get one free” specials from participating Tybee establishments.
Festivities kick off on New Year’s Eve, Thursday Dec. 31, at midnight with the annual New Year’s Eve fireworks display.  On New Year’s Day, awaken your senses with a cool dip in the Atlantic at the annual Polar Bear Plunge. It’s at noon on the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. All funds raised from the plunge go to nursing students in Chatham County.
After the plunge, warm up on the pier with live music featuring beach music and Motown legends The Tams. With hits like “Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy” and “What Kind of Fool,” this band is a definite crowd pleaser. On Saturday, Jan. 2, relax and settle into your favorite Tybee restaurant or watering hole and enjoy the game.
To make your vacation one to remember and one that doesn’t break your wallet, there are “buy two, get one free” specials on Tybee lodging, dining, shopping and much more.  Complimentary shuttle service will be available at designated areas island-wide courtesy of Crab Cab.
