FMWR weekly briefing for Nov. 22

Registration has begun for men's and women's company-level Intramural Basketball League play. Games are scheduled to begin Dec. 6 and continue each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Registration will close Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. Those interested in competing should contact the Fort Stewart Sports Office at 912-767-8238. There is no charge.
Games will be played at Newman Fitness Center or Caro Gym and are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Rock Big Bench Press Competition Sign-ups
Early registration will continue through Nov. 26 for The Rock Big Bench Press Competition, scheduled Dec. 4 at Newman Fitness Center. Weigh-ins will be from 8-9:30 a.m. and the competition begins at 10 a.m.
There will be team and open competition in various weight classes. Battalions are encouraged to enter teams of 10-12 lifters. In the open competition, winners will be determined by weight classes, and each participant will get three attempts to lift maximum weight.
United States Power Lifting Federation rules will apply. Competitors must be 16 years old to enter. Lifting shirts and gloves will be allowed.
The cost during early registration is $10 per person. The cost for late registration, from Nov. 27 to the day of competition, will be $12.

Pass & Permit Second Wildlife Photo Contest
Registration continues and the photo turn-in deadline is Nov. 30 for the Wildlife Photo Contest to be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 8 at Stewart Pass & Permit Office, building 8093.
The theme is wildlife photography. Please, no photos of pets. Photo dimensions are four by six inches or larger and there is no limit to the quantities entered.
There will be only one prize awarded per person for first, second and third place in the age groups 2-5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16 and older. A separate award for active duty Soldiers will be awarded.
The contest is open to amateur photographers and entry fees are $5 (ages 2-15) per photo and $10 (ages 16 and older) per photo.

Big Buck Contest Registration Extended
The registration deadline for the annual Big Buck Contest has been extended by Pass and Permit to Dec. 15. The cost to enter remains the same - $25 per person.
Two bucks may be entered, but only one will be scored. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winner. A cash award, deer mount and a free hunt/fish pass will be awarded to the Active Duty Soldier with the highest buck scoring.
Register at the Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield Pass & Permit Office. The Stewart office is in building 8093 and the Hunter office is in building 1286.

Win a Holiday Turkey or Ham
Every Thursday during November and December, test your shooting skills starting at 5 p.m. at the Fort Stewart Skeet/Trap Range at Holbrook Pond. You just might take home a turkey or ham.
There are four ways to compete:
Standard paper plate target with small dot in the center. Shoot from a sitting position. Shooter with most pellets in center dot wins. Cost is $3.
Get 5 paintball shots on the poker board. Best five-card poker hand wins. Several mystery prizes are hidden on the board. Cost is $5.
Trap turkey shoot. All shooters will begin at position 1. Those who hit their target will move to position 2. Shooters who miss will have an opportunity to buy back into this game for $1, but will have to hit the target from position 1 to continue. Last shooter left will be the winner. Cost is $5.
Bad guy paintball shoot. Five shots on the poster with designated scoring areas. Most total points wins prize. The cost is $5.

Digital Photo Contest Entries Welcome
Entries are being accepted in the 2010 Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield Digital Photography Contest.
There's no cost to enter, but the deadline for entering at the garrison, or local level, is 5 p.m. on Nov. 22. All entries must be submitted online.
To access the contest Web site through the Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation page, go to http://www.armymwr.com and click on Rec & Leisure. When the pulldown menu appears, click on Arts & Crafts and you'll see the contest information. Or, you can type https://artscrafts.fmwrc.army.mil directly into your browser and log in to the contest Web site with your AKO username and password.
There are two major competitive divisions, the Military Division (Active Duty Military), and other eligible participants (Family Members, Army Civilians, Retirees, etc).
The eight categories in each division are People, Military Life, Nature and Landscape, Animals, Still Life, Design Elements, Digital Darkroom and Monochrome.
For additional details, pick up an information packet from the Leisure Travel Services Office, building 419 (Furniture Store Mall) at Fort Stewart or building 1286 at Hunter.
Local judging will be conducted Nov. 23 and winners will be notified the following day, Nov. 24. Prizes for each division and category winner will be a $25 Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation coupon book. Local winners will be asked to provide a printed copy for display.
Winning entries from Stewart and Hunter will be entered in the 2010 Army Digital Photography Contest.

Turkey Egg Hunt at Corkan
Here's a great way for Dad or Grandma to entertain the children, so Mom has time to shop elsewhere for great holiday deals.
Corkan Family Fun Center, building 449, will hold a Turkey Egg Hunt for ages 0-6 years beginning at 10 a.m. Nov. 26. The hunt will continue until all eggs are found. There is no charge.

Getting Ready for Holidays at Hays Library

Youth Action Council Meeting
Military connected youth in grades 6-12 are welcome to attend the Youth Action Council meeting at 5 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Fort Stewart Youth Center, building 7338.
Youth will be able to discuss quality of life issues affecting them on Fort Stewart and develop opportunities for volunteering and civic support. Pizza will be provided after the meeting.

Quarterly Skeet Shoot at Hunter
A 50-bird skeet shoot will be held at the Hunter Army Airfield Skeet and Trap Range beginning at 9 a.m. on Dec. 4.
The event is designed to provide a quality competition in which shooters at equal skill levels can compete for cash prizes. A minimum of eight shooters is required per division. Divisions will include beginner, intermediate, expert, ladies and youth.
Lunch will be provided while shooting continues. Awards will be presented about 2 p.m.
