Character Meet and Greet at Hunter, Stewart
Youngsters, 12 and under, will get a chance to meet some of their favorite characters during Character Meet and Greets at Hallstrom Lake on Hunter Army Airfield, on Saturday and at Corkan Plaza on Fort Stewart on April 9. Each is from 1-3 p.m.
The character guest list could includes Yogi Bear, Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White, Shrek, Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Ariel, Winnie the Pooh, Woody and Jasmine and Aladdin, among others.
Children, who must be accompanied by an adult, will get autograph books as they enter. They'll not only have a chance to meet the characters, but can have their faces painted or enjoy a craft activity if they like. Snacks will be provided.
And there will be a character parade. Don't forget to bring a camera.

Author to Read at Tell Me a Story
Tanya Biank, an Army spouse, mother and author of "Army Wives," will be the featured reader at the Tell Me a Story from 3-4 p.m. April 10 at Club Stewart.
The featured book will be "Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot" by Margo Theis Raven. It is a true story of the Berlin Airlift and the candy dropped from the sky.
There is no charge, but space is limited and those planning to attend are encouraged to register early by calling Kristy Cormier at 877-9111 or by e-mail at PtoP.Stewart@militarychild.org. Registration will close April 5.
The event, sponsored by the Military Child Education Coalition in conjunction with the Child, Youth and School Services, is geared for children, ages 4-12. Each family will receive a copy of the featured book. Hands on activities, snacks, and a fun learning experience will be provided.

Great MWR Yard Sale at Stewart, Hunter
The Great MWR Yard Sale is coming to Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 16.
Spaces are still available at the Hunter Credit Union parking lot, but the parking lot at Club Stewart is full.
The sale will be at homes in post housing areas at Stewart and Hunter, as well as the parking lots.
Active duty, family members, retirees, National Guard and Army civilians may sell. The cost to sell is $5 per space at the parking lots. There is no charge for on-post housing sellers, but they must register. The public is invited to purchase items at the sale.
All sellers must sign up at the Sports Office on Fort Stewart, or Tominac Fitness Center at Hunter.

Spring Education Forum at Stewart
A Spring Education Forum when soldiers, family members and educators can discuss issues and offer suggestions about the education of military students will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. April 12 in the Club Stewart Ballroom.
The forum focuses on students enrolled in public and DODEA schools.
Parents are needed to discuss issues and possible solutions in proactive, upbeat discussion groups. Those who cannot be at the forum can make comments and suggestions through the School Liaison Offices website link found on the lower left-hand side of the Team Stewart home page.
Parents also can call the School Liaison Offices at 767-6533 (Stewart) or 912- 315-6586 (Hunter) to sign up as participants.
Concerns and suggestions produced by the forum will be presented to area school superintendents at a luncheon on April 13.

Intramural Softball Sign-up to Begin
Registration will begin Friday and close on April 19 for intramural softball league play at Bennett Sports Complex. Play is scheduled from April 25-July 11.
Leagues will be offered for company-level, women's and coed. Players must be 17 or older to be eligible for play. There is no charge and participants can play competitively, for fun or for the fellowship.
Games will be played Mondays through Thursdays, starting at 6 p.m. Sign up or turn in a memo to play at the Bennett Sports Complex.

Texas Hold'em Tournament Coming To Club Stewart
Registration starts Friday and continues through April 26 for a Texas Hold'em Tournament at Club Stewart.
Players must be 18 or older and must pre-register. A players' meeting will be held on April 29 to go over the rules and to provide other information to competitors.
Games will be played beginning May 2 and continue at 7 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in May with the exception of the 23rd 30th. Games scheduled for those two days will be played on June 1 and June 3.
All games will take place in Warriors Lounge, except the top 10 competition on June 6, which will at Thunder Run.

Youth Trip to Georgia Sea Turtle Center
A Youth Sponsorship Trip to Jekyll Island to visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center will depart from Hunter at 8:30 a.m. and Fort Stewart at 9 a.m. on April 9. Registration will continue until April 7.
Youth will learn about where sea turtles live, what they eat and their amazing journey from egg to adulthood. Youth also will learn about the natural and human threats the turtles face and what can be done to help them.
The trip is open to CYSS-registered youth in grades 4-12. Fee is $6 per person. Register at the CYSS registration offices at Stewart and Hunter. A $5 fee will be applied to any cancellations after April 7 and to no-shows.

National Library Week Celebration
Children can hear stories in celebration of National Library Week, during storytime 4-5 p.m. April 13 at George P. Hays Library, building 411. There is no charge. For more information, call 767-2828.

Rocky's Zone Rodeo Roundup
Ride the mechanical bull longer than anyone else and you can walk away with a prize during the Rocky's Zone Rodeo Roundup from 5 to 11 p.m. on April 14 at the soldier recreation center.
But the western-style fun won't stop there. There will be a stick-horse barrel race, lasso competitions, line dancing and John Wayne and Clint Eastwood lookalike competitions.
A Texas Hold'em tournament also will add to the western atmosphere. A prize will be awarded to the first-place winner. Registration, at $20 per person, will be accepted until the start of the rodeo.
The sound of country music will fill the recreation center for the roundup.
The cost to ride the mechanical bull will be $3 per person per ride. Tickets for multiple rides will be sold at discounted prices.
