Big Game bingo

The Big Game at Stewart Bingo, adjacent to Club Stewart, and Hunter Bingo, adjacent to Hunter Club, Saturday gives players a chance to win $32k in prizes. The event features nine $1,800 games and a $13,000 coverall. Lightning round run from 1-4 p.m., with the main event beginning at 7.

Post-wide garage Sale

The Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Yard Sale and Flea Market will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Sales will be in on-post housing areas on both Stewart and Hunter. Sales are also permitted at the Club Stewart parking lot.

There is no charge for residents of on-post housing, but there is a $10 per space charge for the in the parking lot.

Everyone, including civilians, can shop.

Olympic weightlifting

Beginning Oct. 4, Caro Fitness Center will offer a 10-week Advanced Olympic Style Weightlifting Class from 6-7:15 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $25 for all $3 a class. Register online at WebTrac.MWR.Army.mil. Also, scheduled cross-fit hours beginning in October are Monday-Friday from 12-1 p.m. and 5-6 p.m. For more information, call 912-767-4763. 

 

Pay per view

VIP seating is available for UFC pay per view action at Club Stewart. The main event for UFC 204, Oct. 8, is a middleweight battle: Bisping vs. Henderson 2.

VIP seating packages start at $10 per person. For $30, patrons can get a package that includes a domestic beer bucket and a $10 food credit. The $100 package, for a group of five, includes premier sectional seating, two domestic beer buckets and a $50 food credit.

Watch the action on the club’s giant screen. Doors open at 7 p.m. There’s a $5 per person admission charge. Open to all ages. Food and beverage specials are offered.

Taylors Creek championship

The inaugural Taylors Creek Open Championship will be played Oct. 15-16 at the par 72 course on Fort Stewart. The tournament is open to the public.

PGA play John Fesperman Jr. said the tournament is the first of what will be an annual event. Women, senior and men’s champions will be crowned.

Play begins at 8 a.m. both days, with tee times every 10 minutes. All players will be flighted after the first round and there will be a “bump rule” in effect for each flight. Prizes will be awarded to each flight winner and runner-up.

The cost to enter is $75 per player, and includes cart fee, range balls, prizes and lunch on Sunday.

Managed hunts

Registration is under way for an Oct. 22 managed hunt in the Delta Complex Area of Fort Stewart. There are 50 slots, 45 for soldiers and five for retirees. Registration accepted at Stewart/Hunter Pass and Permit offices until noon Oct. 12. Drawing at 1 p.m. that day.

Hunters may register for this hunt and those on Nov. 12 and Dec. 17, but may only participate in one. Cost is $25 per person for those selected. Lunch provided. DPW, Fish and Wildlife Branch will have a game cleaning station.

Alpha Warrior Competition

Youth and adults can put themselves to the test Oct. 21 at Army Entertainment and MWR’s Alpha Warrior Competition at Newman Fitness Center at Fort Stewart.

American Ninja Warrior competitors Brent Steffensen and Kacy Cantanzaro will set the pace on the Alpha Warrior Battle Rig. Pre-registration is not required. Waivers available at the event.

When your competition is done, watch the “Battle of the Brigades.” Spectators are encouraged to show support for their brigade's team.

Dawn of the Zombies 5k

Run for the time of your life in the Dawn of the Zombies 5K run on Fort Stewart at 8 a.m. Oct. 22 in the Holbrook Pond Recreation Area.

You’ll get three flags, or life points. If you avoid the zombies and finish with at least one flag, you will have avoided “sudden death” and get a survivor medal.

FRG fundraiser

The popular Holbrook Pond Holiday Hayride and Light Festival Dec. 9 and 10 presents an opportunity for FRGs to earn money.

MWR Outdoor Recreation is offering 10 booth spaces on a first-come basis to organizations or FRGs to sell snacks and holiday-related crafts. There’s a $10 fee for each booth.

Also, units are eligible to win gift certificates valued at $100-$300 if they enter the Unit Light Display Competition at the festival.
