Tree lightings on Stewart and Hunter

The Christmas tree outside Club Stewart will come to life at a tree lighting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

Music will be performed by the 3rd ID Band, plus Liberty High School chorus and Bradwell Institute cheerleaders. Santa Claus will be available, so don’t forget your cameras. There’s no charge.

Hunter's Christmas tree outside Hunter Club will be lit during a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6.

Music will be performed by the 3rd ID Band and Pulaski Elementary School chorus. There will also be kiddie train rides, a movie and snacks for sale. Santa Claus will be there for photos.

Brunch with Santa

Retirees and civilians are invited to join soldiers and their families for a brunch with Santa at the Club Stewart Ballroom and Thunder Run from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec.8.

The menu includes Southern breakfast favorites, bourbon glazed ham, beef tenderloins, the chef’s selection of side dishes, and dessert.

Ticket prices are $14.95 for adults and $6.45 for children until Dec. 5. After that, prices will be $17.95 for adults and $7.45 for children. Children 2 and younger eat free.

Hilton Head shopping

Enjoy Christmas shopping at the Tanger Outlets on Hilton Head Island, without having to drive. A Leisure Travel trip starts at 9 a.m. on Dec. 7. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for kids. Register by Dec. 2.

Bingo-lingo class

Never played bingo? Learning the basics of the game as well as etiquettes and winning tips at free classes. They will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and from 5-6:30 p.m Dec. 12 at Fort Stewart Bingo, adjacent to Club Stewart.

Trees for Troops

Donated Christmas trees will be given out to soldiers and their families on a first-come basis starting 9 a.m. Dec. 14 at Newman Fitness Center and Hunter Club.

BOSS soldiers will help with selections and prepare trees to take home. Military ID cards will be required.

This is the eighth year that the Christmas Spirit Foundation and FedEx have provided the trees.

Bowl With Santa

You’re invited to Bowl with Santa Dec. 15 from 3:30-6 p.m. at Marne Bowling Center. Admission is free, and kids younger than 18 will receive gifts and bowl for $1 per game. Bring your camera.

Jaguars vs. Titans

Register by Dec. 16 for a Leisure Travel trip to watch the Jacksonville Jaguars battle the Tennessee Titans in Jacksonville on Dec. 22.

Babysitting course

Teens can become certified babysitters by completing the SKIES CYSitters Teenage Babysitter Course from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 2 and 3.

The course is free and will be at SKIES Unlimited, across from Diamond Elementary on Davis Avenue.

Youth will learn basic child care skills and get certified in first aid and CPR. Participants must attend both days to be certified.

Holbrook decorations

Units and groups are invited to come Dec. 2-11 to pick a plot and put up decorations to their hearts’ content.

Employee fitness

Get more fit you by signing up for the Stewart/Hunter Civilian Fitness Program. There is no charge.

Applications are available online at http://www.stewartmwr.com/ and http://www.huntermwr.com/. Click on sports gyms and aquatics/Newman or Tominac Fitness Center and download your packet. Applications must be turned into your Directorate Training Coordinator by Nov. 29.

 

Turkey shoot

Use your weapon, or a range weapon in a turkey shoot from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 12 at Stewart Skeet/Trap Range in Holbrook Recreation Area.

Shells will be provided. Shooters may enter multiple rounds and will shoot from 25 yards. A turkey/ham gift certificate will be awarded in each round that has a minimum of five shooters.

The cost is $5 per person for five-nine shooters, or $3 per person if there are 10 or more.
