UNITED KINGDOM Despite his jolly demeanor, gift-giving reputation and propensity for magic, Santa Claus often has a tenuous reputation with children.

There are galleries that pop up every year of screaming tots eager to leave the lap of St. Nick, desperately reaching for moms and dads behind the camera. After all, small children are taught to distrust strangers and simultaneously told that if they tell an unfamiliar man whats on their wish list, hell shimmy down their chimney while they sleep and leave things in their house. Its not exactly a recipe for putting children at ease.

Despite shopping center Santas reputation for unsettling little ones, one Sinterklaas in particular was captured reminding us why the Christmas season is so enchanting.

Over the weekend, as people bustled through the Cleveland Centre in Middlesbrough, UK checking items of their lists, Santa had a special interaction with a little girl with hearing loss. The moment starts like any other, with Santa trying to chat verbally with the small girl, but after mom asserts that her daughter doesnt hear well, Kris Kringle begins to sign, much to the delight of the child. After all, a man who travels to every country in one night is fluent in all languages, including sign language.

Excuse me I think I got some stray glitter in my eye. Yeah, that explains the tears.
