The video shows a young woman struggling with depression.

It chronicles her lifetime of depression from her childhood to adulthood, portraying a visual interpretation of the song that was inspired by the struggles of Flowers own wife, according to Uproxx, a pop culture website.

Flowers told Newsweek that Rut is told from the perspective of his wife, Tana Mundkowsky.

She has a complex version of [post-traumatic stress disorder] from her childhood, and its her speaking, he told Newsweek. Its emotional and the only song Ive had to sit down with her and play at the piano, just to make sure it was OK with her.

The Killers are currently in the middle of a U.S. tour.
