Veterans retire nearly 500 flags

Local veterans gathered at VFW Post 6602 last Saturday for a flag retirement ceremony, which was conducted by Post 6602 and American Legion Post 168.
VFW Cdr. Steve Wheeler and American Legion Services Officer Guido Knapp where in charge of the event, which disposed of worn and tattered American flags that had become unserviceable.
VFW Sr. Vice Cdr. Larry Parker served as officer of the day and American Legion Sr. Vice Cdr. Roy Owens was the inspector. Nearly 500 American flags were disposed of during the ceremony.
