About 70 people worked together to clean up Highway 84 and a section of Peacock Canal in Hinesville on Saturday, collecting more than 80 bags of trash and debris, as well as a bicycle and a fully decorated Christmas tree.
Keep Liberty County Beautiful Director Sara Swinda said she appreciated the efforts of Hinesville police officer Michael Trombley who coordinated the event. She also expressed gratitude for the support of the city of Hinesville, the police department, OMI, the Liberty County Solid Waste Department and Midway Fabrication. She said such events can’t happen without community support. She also noted the following businesses and groups who worked as teams in the cleanup: Citizens Academy, local Neighborhood Watch Groups, Youth Challenge, the Kiwanis Club, the Rotary Club, the Bradwell Institute Track Team, the YMCA, and the Georgia Power Company. Swinda also said she appreciated the Hinesville community service workers who helped during the event.
