Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery will host Wreaths Across America, a holiday wreath-laying ceremony, at noon Saturday, Dec. 11 to honor and remember the nation’s veterans. The Bonaventure Society, Children of the American Revolution is coordinating the event to pay tribute to veterans of each branch of the military, the Merchant Marines, prisoners of war and those still missing in action.
Members of the Civil Air Patrol, JROTC cadets, representatives from the military, veterans, their families and the public are welcome.
Wreaths Across America was started when the Worcester Wreath Company donated holiday wreaths to honor veterans laid to rest at the VA’s 131 national cemeteries and 79 state veterans cemeteries. For the past 19 years, they have donated wreaths for gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery.
The cemetery is at 8819 U.S. Highway 301 in Glennville. For more information, call Director Ernie Cowart at 912-654-5398 or go to www.wreaths-across-america.org.
