The ninth annual Wreaths for Warriors Walk ceremony will be at noon Dec. 12 on Fort Stewart’s Cottrell Field.

The memorial walk has 468 white-flowering crape myrtle trees, one for each soldier assigned or attached to 3rd Infantry Division who was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom.

The goal of Wreaths for Warriors Walk is to place a holiday wreath at each tree that lines Warriors Walk.

“We need your help to make this year a success,” said Bruce Muncher, co-founder of Wreaths for Warriors Walk in an email. “There is still time for you to sponsor a wreath or contribute to the ceremony. Wreaths are still only $15 each.”

Wreaths can be sponsored in two ways. Checks made out to “Wreaths for Warriors Walk” may be mailed to Wreaths for Warriors Walk, c/o Anthony Justi, P.O. Box 3533, Fort Stewart, GA 31315, or contributions can be made online using PayPal at www.w4ww.org or on the Facebook page www.facebook.com/wreaths4warriorswalk and click on “Donate.”

The ceremony is rain or shine, and the public is invited to attend.
