Accident claims Long County man
Hinesville man killed Sunday in SC crash

A Long County man was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 84 near mile marker 13 in Long County, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Quincy Melvin.

Arthur Foster, 47, was apparently driving east on 84 shortly after 5:30 when a problem arose with a rear tire on his 1986 Ford pickup.

Melvin said Foster was able to partially pull onto the shoulder of the road, leaving the rear of the truck on the highway. Foster got out and tried to warn oncoming drivers when he was struck by a 2002 Jeep Cherokee driven by Joshua Tyre, 29.

Foster was pronounced dead at the scene. Melvin said the accident is under investigation, however no charges are expected to be filed against Tyre.
