Address markers available in Long Co.

In compliance with the new E-911 addressing plan, the Ludowici/Long County Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary is providing address lot markers and mailbox markers to all Long County residents.
The Long County Commission recently requested that county residents begin using their new E-911 address.  Each new address should be posted on mailboxes and homes.
The ladies auxiliary is making available markers that have reflective 3-inch numbers. The markers meet all guidelines established by the E-911 addressing plan.
According to Marjorie DeLoach, the markers will last indefinitely and are easy to see.
DeLoach added that the ladies auxiliary will set up stations in four quadrants of the county — northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest — so that residents will be able to pick up the markers. The northeast quadrant will be the first one set up.
Workshops are set for the Sand Hill fire station on Jan. 10 and 24.
The cost of the markers is $25 for the 4-foot sign that marks residences, and $15 for mailbox markers.
“The money that we raise from this will all go back into the county fire department," DeLoach said.
According to DeLoach, the ladies auxiliary has helped the county fire department in the past with the purchase of Jaws of Life equipment and protective clothing.
Long County residents can obtain more information on addressing their residence and mailbox by contacting DeLoach at 654-4504 or Janet Foster at 654-3512.
