Ameris Bank tops last year's PB & J collection
Donations will be accepted at today's Farmer's Market
Ameris Bank PB&J Collection

Ameris Bank has topped their donations of peanut butter and jelly jars for this year's Hinesville Rotary Club and Hinesville Downtown Development Authority peanut butter and jelly drive.

The donated jars of peanut butter and jelly will be given to the Manna House Food Pantry in Hinesville for summer lunches for local residents.

Ameris Bank Hinesville, Branch Manager Danny Creasy said their customers brought in the bulk of the jars and by Thursday afternoon they were at 1,507.

Creasy said that topped last year's donation of more than 1,000 jars.

"It's amazing," he said.

Ameris Bank got involved in the annual drive around four years ago.. Creasy said they donated about 186 jars their first year. In year two they tripled their donation by dropping off about 750 jars. Last year they went over 1,000 and once again topped that this year.

Each year local downtown businesses engage in a friendly rivalry to see who can bring in the most jars.

Anyone wanting to donate a jar of peanut butter or jelly or both can bring their donation to the Farmer's Market today. Once all the jars are tallied we will announce the total amount of jars collected and also report if anyone managed to top Ameris Bank's donation.
