Authorities have named the victims in Thursday morning’s attack in the Crossroads community of Riceboro.
Francenia James, 75, of Riceboro was killed and Abraham Moody was injured when James’ son and Moody’s cousin, Wallace James, 40, attacked them, according to Liberty County Chief Deputy Keith Moran.
Moody was reported to be in critical but stable condition in a Savannah hospital Thursday night.
Authorities have not speculated what led to the attacks.
Moran has said that about noon Thursday a woman called to say someone was attacking her son at her Barrington Ferry home. She allegedly named Wallace James as the attacker.
Upon arriving in the area, officers saw Wallace James and took him into custody. And he allegedly told them he had also hurt his mother.
That led investigators to the home at 2441 Barrington Ferry, where Francenia and Wallace James lived. Mrs. James was found dead inside.
