Liberty County Probate Court Judge Nancy Aspinwall swore in five returning members, one new member and the incumbent chairman of the Liberty County Board of Elections and Registration during the group's meeting last week.
While the modest ceremony was a repeat occurrence for BoER Chairman Stephen Mullice and and members Gene Mobley, Russell Wells, Esau Kelly, Sam Harris and Jim Smith, it was a welcomed first occasion for newest member, Melinda Whalley Schneider.
A volunteer with the Hinesville Military Affairs Committee, a liaison group between the city and Fort Stewart, Schneider said she was happy to join the board as the Republican representative and ready for what will continue to be a busy election year.
Mullice said he and the other board members would make sure to be there to guide Schneider along, especially in preparation for county primary races in July.
"We'll work with you in any way that we can," the chairman said. "Just roll up your sleeves and jump in."
