UUPDATE: According to Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles, the man killed in a Saturday afternoon boating accident has been identified as Daniel Dowdy, 24, of Glennville.

Dowdy was reportedly riding on his boat on the Altamaha River when he apparently fell overboard shortly after 6 p.m.

As his boat began to travel in a circular motion, Dowdy was picked up by another boater. As the boat continued to go in circles, Dowdy allegedly attempted to jump back in his boat from the other vessel and fell short.

Dowdy ended up back in the water and as the boat circled him, the foot of the motor struck him, severely injuring him.

He was rushed to a local area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
