AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax-preparation and assistance service, is seeking volunteers in the Hinesville area to help taxpayers who need assistance preparing and filing their 2012 tax returns.
Volunteers do not need to be AARP members or retirees to participate. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers should have some computer experience, such as e-mail and Internet browsing. Volunteers with management experience also are needed.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers receive free IRS-certified tax training and are reimbursed on a limited basis for qualified program-related expenses. They help taxpayers at sites around the United States while learning new skills and giving back to their communities.
“Last year, AARP Tax-Aide volunteers helped more than 55,000 taxpayers in Georgia and more than 2.5 million taxpayers nationwide, and our site at the Liberty County YMCA was an integral part of that support,” said Richard Cramer, AARP Tax-Aide state coordinator.
