The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new member, the Liberty County Blazers, with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Head coach Cedric Robertson is a native of Liberty County and a graduate of Liberty County High School. Liberty County Blazers is one of the county’s new AAU basketball teams. The team was created in May 2009 and promotes physical fitness and sportsmanship while helping youths understand the fundamentals of basketball. The team is open to children who live in Liberty County.
The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Liberty County Youth Center. Liberty County Blazers were welcomed and congratulated by the chamber of commerce, chamber ambassadors and friends. Robertson thanked Dennis Waters, St. James Sports Center and Community Center, the city of Walthourville and the United Way for helping his team through donations.
Robertson and his wife, Tabitha Robertson, also operate “There’s Still Hope Outreach Program” at the Liberty County Youth Center in Walthourville. The after-school program services students ages 5-18 with tutoring, mentoring and homework assistance.
