Dr. Elizabeth "Doll" Miller of Georgia Eye Institute helps more than human patients.

Each year at Humane Society of Greater Savannah’s Doggie Carnival, Miller offers a discount of 50 percent off Lasik surgery and donates the discounted fee to the Humane Society. Since the beginning of this program in 2010, Miller and her patients have donated approximately $18,000.

Miller’s involvement with the Humane Society began when she volunteered to walk the shelter’s dogs. She is also a former board member.

"Animals are such an important part of our lives, and the emotional engagement with them is very fulfilling," Miller said.

GEI has 13 area offices. For more information, go to gaeyeinstitute.com.
