Ameris Bank’s fifth annual “Helping Fight Hunger” initiative is in full swing. Non-perishable food items are being collected through October.
At the end of the month, a food bank in every city that has an Ameris Bank branch will receive the donations that were collected at that city or town’s Ameris Bank location, plus a monetary donation from Ameris Bancorp.
Community members can drop off non-perishable food items at Ameris Bank at 101 W. Hednry St. in Hinesville. All local donations will be given to First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
During the first week of the drive, which started
Oct. 1, the Ameris Bank Hinesville location collected 233 non-perishable food items, and over 70,866 items were collected Company-wide.
“We continue to collect non-perishable food items to be donated right here in our community. This is such a worthwhile cause, especially because hunger exists for over 49 million people in our country. I encourage everyone to come out and donate — it won’t cost much, and the impact we can make in our communities is so great,” Market President Austent Carroll said.
