Attention area teachers: If you find your classroom is running short on supplies, you’ll have a chance to stock up later this month, and all it takes is a visit to the Hinesville Farmers Market.

Classroom supply packs will be available for Liberty and Long County teachers if you make your way to the Aug. 17 Farmers Market at Bradwell Park, from 4 to 7 p.m. Get there early, as this offer is good while supplies last.

Public and private school teachers must have their school ID available. Home-school teachers are not eligible.

This is part of an effort by area businesses to support educators by replenishing their classroom supplies as the school year begins, said Michelle Ricketson, executive director of the Hinesville Downtown Development Authority. The authority operates the Farmers Market, the site for this venue.

A key sponsor is VIP Office Furniture & Supply, but other area businesses have a chance to get involved. They can purchase a “teacher pack” for $20. Each teacher pack will include pens, pencils, copy paper, dry erase markers, tape, binders, folders, art supplies and hand sanitizer that will be made available.

Businesses can buy more, all the way up to 25 teacher packs for $500, or simply make a tax-deductible donation of any amount.
