The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is taking nominations for the 2016-17 class of Leadership Liberty.

In its 13th year, the program is a none-month class, meeting at least once a month to teach participants about various functions of the community, including county and city government, public health and education, tourism, economic development and more. There is also a session that includes overnight travel to Atlanta to watch state government.

The cost is $700 and includes all overnight accommodation and food, as well as transportation.

Since its inception with the 2004-05 class Leadership Liberty has graduated some 100 participants who either live or work in the county.

"I strongly encourage our business leaders to take part in this program, so that better relationships between the business community and our local government can be built," Chamber CEO Leah Poole said.
