A new cheerleading school had a ribbon-cutting May 14 in Ludowici.

Tammy Allen, owner and operator of Southeast Cheer, said the school will start by offering tumbling classes for ages 3-18. She also plans to have a competitive cheerleading squad that will "go as far as Nashville," she said.

Allen hopes to add karate classes when the school gets more established.

Allen’s husband, Mike, said his wife decided to open the business after they got custody of their grandchildren and enrolled them in a cheerleading program. He said the owner of that program was transferred from Fort Stewart, and Tammy Allen thought the community needed the program.

Mike Allen said Southeast Cheer has three certified coaches.

The school is at 131 S. Main St. For more information, search "Southeast Cheer" on Facebook or call 912-318-4611.
