Coastal Electric Cooperative Director John T. Woods III of Sunbury earned his Director Gold Certificate recently from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

To receive the certificate, directors must first earn NRECA’s Credentialed Cooperative Director and Board Leadership Certificate, plus three additional credits from the BLC course. Director Gold demonstrates to co-op members and other stakeholders the directors’ ongoing commitment to advancing their knowledge and performing their fiduciary duty to the best of their ability.

Woods, 57, is a Liberty County shrimp fisherman and captains his own boat, the Papa T. He has served on Coastal’s board of directors for 10 years. He and his wife, Sissy Coursey Woods, have one daughter, Bonnie, who attends LaGrange College.
