The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce had a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 7 for DICK’s Sporting Goods at 863 W. Oglethorpe Highway, in the new Oglethorpe Square Shopping Center in Hinesville.

Chamber Board Chairwoman Karen Bell, introduced DICK’s Store Manager Matt Robinson and congratulated him on the opening of the Hinesville location.

Mayor Allen Brown welcomed Robinson and praised the staff Robinson has in place. Brown said he is looking forward to the store’s impact on the community. Liberty County Commission Chairman Donald Lovette also welcomed Robinson, thanking him for providing a special market.

“I just want to say thank you to the community and the chamber for welcoming us in,” Robinson said. “It’s definitely been very welcoming everywhere we go, everybody is excited about (the grand opening). There is a lot of buzz within the community about it. We are excited to be here and ready to get rolling.”

The store is one of numerous national retailers that are opening their first locations in Liberty County as part of the Oglethorpe Square, which itself had a grand opening earlier this month.
