Connection Church hosted a ribbon cutting Aug. 24 in honor of its name change.

The event was held at 116 Patriot Trail in Hinesville in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Timothy and Cindy Byler welcomed family, friends, staff members, as well as chamber staff and members.

Connection Church, formerly known as Bethesda Church, has been in the community for nearly 20 years. Connection Church is a multicultural, nondenominational church that serves the Fort Stewart and Hinesville communities.

“The name change is not just a transition, but rather one part of a seismic shift that our church has undergone,” Timothy Byler said.

Connection Church holds Sunday morning worship at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 368-6121 or go to bethesdachurch.net.

“This particular organization has been an active member of the chamber for several years, and that is very unusual for a church, but it falls right in line with their vision,” chamber board member Charlene Parlett said. “We are very excited to be a part of this.”
