Gov. Nathan Deal recently reappointed Homer "Buddy" DeLoach to the Jekyll Island Authority for a four-year term. DeLoach has been a member of the authority for one term, and this is his first reappointment.

DeLoach said he thinks the authority has come a long way in the past four years.

"We’re in the middle of a major revitalization project that will define Jekyll Island for the next 50 years," he said.

DeLoach also is the owner of Martin Insurance Agency Inc., in Hinesville and once was named business person of the year by the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce. He also has held many political offices over the years, including mayor of Hinesville and state representative for Georgia. He served in the Army for two years, and won the Department of the Army Patriotic Civilian Service Award.

DeLoach and his wife, Linda, are members of the Hinesville United Methodist Church and have one son and two grandchildren.
