Hinesville designer LaQuoshia Boyce presented her first fashion collection at New York Small Boutique Fashion Week Season 10 on Sept. 11.

SBFW is a runway show and shopping experience exclusively for small business owners. The designers are given this platform to showcase their styles with the opportunity to be picked up for sales by boutiques and designer shops.

Boyce, owner and designer of Butterfly By Design in Hinesville, has been designing fashion since 2014. She said she was inspired by her church’s first lady, Quamea Shaw of Full Gospel Church of God In Christ. Shaw hired Boyce for her first design in October 2014.

"I am a self-taught seamstress, so making a dress for my first lady to wear at the church’s anniversary was a big deal for me," Boyce said. "Once she posted photos online and told others about me, the orders started coming in. It was just what I needed to motivate me."

She said she’s been working to spread her brand and improve her skills. After seeing a request for submissions on Instagram, Boyce submitted her designs to SBFW. Her designs were reviewed and chosen for the showcase.

"This experience was amazing and I’m grateful for the support from my husband, children, family, friends and fellow designers," Boyce said. "I look forward to learning more about the fashion industry so that I can create the impossible and expand to new horizons."

Boyce will showcase the designs she presented at SBFW locally on Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. during a fashion show and grand opening celebration at the Celebration Castle in Ludowici. Other designers, vendors and guests from New York are expected to attend the night of fashion, which is also open to the public.
