Firm announces Winn renovation contract

ATLANTA — The Southeast Division of McCarthy Building Companies Inc. recently announced its selection as construction manager by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District for the Winn Army Community Hospital renovation project on Fort Stewart.
Construction on the $23 million fixed-price contract is scheduled to begin next month, adding to the firm’s regional federal project portfolio that also includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Winn Army Community Hospital serves soldiers and their family members and retirees.
Designed by architecture firm Leo A. Daly, the project includes a 65,000-square-foot addition and a 1,000-square-foot renovation to the existing hospital.
The project, currently LEED registered under the U.S. Green Building Council LEED green certification program, is anticipated to pursue LEED silver certification. The facility will boast a number of eco-friendly design elements.
Estimated completion date of the project is December 2012.
