The Glennville Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting for Glennville Eye Surgery Center, an affiliate of Georgia Eye Institute. Glennville Eye Surgery Center is at 605 S. Veterans Blvd. in Glennville.

The Glennville center is GEI’s second outpatient surgery center. It opened its first outpatient surgery center in Savannah in 2010, and has performed more than 25,700 surgeries, according to a news release.

“Six surgeons will serve the Glennville location, along with a well-qualified surgical nursing and anesthesia staff,” said Clinical Director Cindy Beauvais. “We’re proud that during the past 20 years, Georgia Eye’s reputation for excellence in eye care has grown, allowing us to expand our surgical services to provide a convenient option for surgery for our patients from our Glennville, Hinesville, Claxton and Vidalia offices.”

She said both centers are certified by Medicare and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The latest technology available is used in both clincs.

In addition to surgeries, GEI provides primary eye care, optical retail locations and sub-specialty eye care in 13 locations throughout eastern Georgia and South Carolina. The sub-specialties include cataract evaluation and management, retinal care, glaucoma management, functional cosmetic eye surgery and laser vision correction.
