Coach Wayne! Gymnastics held a ribbon cutting Jan. 13 at its new Flemington location, 1661 E. Oglethorpe Highway suite E.
Owner Wayne Evans welcomed Liberty County Chamber of Commerce members and staff to the event.
Coach Wayne! offers recreational gymnastics instruction for children ages 18 months to 12 years. Evans has been active in gymnastics and tumbling instruction for over 30 years. He has taught private lessons and gymnastics clinics across the United States and Europe, produced eight instructional videos and released seven animated e-book lessons.
Throughout the event, young gymnasts and coaches from Coach Wayne! practiced some of their latest gymnastics skills.
Evans teaches a skill-based philosophy of gymnastics, with his motto being “Have Fun, Be Safe, Push Hard.” Each week, students learn a different skill and are evaluated on their performances. Students earn ribbons or medals for completing a different skill or skill set.
Evans said that rewarding students for mastering a gymnastic skill encourages discipline and gives students a sense of accomplishment.
Coach Wayne! Gymnastics was located inside the Savannah Mall. Evans decided to move his business to Liberty County and opened the new location in Flemington in November 2014. Evans taught gymnastics on Fort Stewart in the past and stated that a lot of students were traveling to Savannah from Liberty County.
Chamber board member Kathy Villafane welcomed the business to the chamber.
“You are not alone in this. We are here to help in any way that we can,” she said.
