Vanity Hair Salon held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its grand opening May 9 at 743 E.G. Miles Parkway.
With support from the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, owner Gwen Wilson welcomed staff, friends and chamber staff and members.
Refreshments and snacks were available for those in attendance.
Chamber volunteer Barbara Martin welcomed the business.
“It’s always nice to welcome a new business to the community and even nicer to have a new member with the chamber,” she said.
Vanity Hair Salon offers manicures, pedicures, makeup and waxing in addition to its hair-cutting services.
Wilson went to cosmetology school in 2009 and graduated in 2010. She said she always has had a passion for hair.
“I did my friends’ hair when I was growing up and even did it for prom,” she said. “I even did my first French braid on my Barbie doll.”
After graduating, Wilson went on to work at the JCPenney Hair Salon in Brunswick, where she managed the business for two years.
After moving back to Hinesville in 2013, Wilson decided to follow her dream of opening her own salon.
“My hope is to open another salon and possibly even a cosmetology school one day,” she said.
