Area residents with insurance problems or questions can receive assistance directly from the state commissioner’s office by contacting his insurance investigator working in the area.
An investigator from the office is scheduled to be in Hinesville from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Feb. 12, at the courthouse annex. Call 876-2164 to confirm the investigator’s schedule.
In addition to receiving assistance with insurance problems or questions, Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine’s office offers complimentary homeowner, automobile and life insurance policy reviews. This service is designed to provide consumers with information they should know before buying insurance and how to avoid common mistakes.
Oxendine said his office has recovered $120 million since 1995 on behalf of Georgia citizens who contacted his office.
If you cannot meet with the investigator during these hours, there are other ways to receive assistance.  Investigators are available to assist by phone from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Call 1-800-656-2298 or go to www.gainsurance.org.
