ATLANTA — Customers in Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Liberty County, raised more than $112,000 from Sept. 7-27 during the Great American Milk Drive supporting Feeding America.
During the month-long “Pour it Forward” philanthropic initiative, shoppers purchased $1, $3 or $5 icons at checkout to provide food banks the milk they need. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to local food pantries that provide food items to the more than 12.5 million American families facing hunger and malnutrition.
More than 50 million Americans lived in food-insecure households last year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
