The 2013-14 Leadership Liberty class traveled Monday to Atlanta and visited with state Rep. Al Williams, D-Midway, and Sen. Buddy Carter, R-Pooler.
The trip is an annual event for Leadership Liberty to allow the class to observe the House of Representatives in session as well as meet with some of the heads of various government state agencies.
The class also met Jim O’Brian, retail specialist for Coastal EMC, to discuss retail strategy; Keith Golden, commissioner of the Department of Transportation; Mark William, commissioner of the Department of Natural Resources; and Vernon Keenan, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
This year’s Leadership Liberty class includes Pamela Phillips and Russell Putnam, both with Fort Stewart; Michael Davis of CH2MHill; Petula Gomillion of Atlantic Area C.A.S.A.; Karen Bell of Ardyss K. Bell, Rottweiler Vending and J&K Photo Booth; Cindi Williford with Coastal EMC; and Anita Hughes and Amanda Scott of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce.
While observing the House session, Leadership Liberty was recognized by Williams and received standing applause from the members on the House floor.
This is the 10th session of Leadership Liberty. Its goal is to shape and mold future leaders of Liberty County by informing them of and educating them about the various resources available throughout the county. The participants are provided with an understanding of the complexities of economic and community development, as well as an appreciation of the county’s heritage.
