ATLANTA – Carl R. Varnedoe of Jones, Osteen & Jones in Hinesville was elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the 42,000-member State Bar of Georgia and was installed June 4 during the organization’s annual meeting at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Varnedoe will serve in the Atlantic Judicial Circuit, Post 2 seat on the board. He is a graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2003.
Varnedoe’s trial practice includes matters involving personal injury related to tractor-trailer accidents, car wrecks, premises and products liability, eminent domain and real estate. He also currently is serving his seventh consecutive term on the State Bar’s Young Lawyers Division Board of Directors and just has completed his fourth term as co-chair of the YLD Leadership Academy.
The Board of Governors is the 160-member policymaking authority of the State Bar, with representation from each of Georgia’s judicial circuits. Varnedoe is one of only three YLD members serving on the board. The board holds regular meetings five times per year.
