Coastal Meat and Seafood held a grand opening and ribbon cutting, in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, Feb. 21 at 9784 Seagrass Plaza, suite C, on E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway.
Owners Gary and Laurie Richardson welcomed staff, family, friends, chamber staff and board members and community members to the event.
Richardson, who has prior experience as a business owner, wanted to help his friend, Mike King, get a job. King is a butcher with 30 years of meat cutting experience and the two teamed up to open Coastal Meat and Seafood. Richardson says he has First Chatham Bank and the Small Business Administration to thank for funding his business.
Coastal Meat and Seafood has a variety of meat such as rib eyes, roasts, whole chickens and pork chops. They also have seafood such as crab legs, shrimp and a variety of fish. The meats are fresh-cut and fresh-ground and do not contain preservatives.
“No one has a butcher anymore, and I wanted to bring a local butcher and a neighborhood feel back to the community,” Richardson said. “We cut and grind our meats daily, and if you don’t see something out that you want, ask for it and we can cut it fresh.”
Daniel Clark, chamber board chairman, welcomed them as members and congratulated them on their grand opening.
“We’re here to support you in your business endeavors, and we wish you much success,” Clark said.
Coastal Meat and Seafood is open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
