MedBank to help locals with prescription issues

MedBank Foundation Inc. soon will have a new on-site location in Hinesville to help bring prescription medications to uninsured and underinsured patients in and around Liberty County.

Beginning Sept. 10, MedBank will be available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays in the Liberty United Way office at 135 E. M.L. King Jr. Drive, suite A.

Anyone lacking insurance for medications can go to the office and begin the process to obtain free medicine through pharmaceutical companies’ patient-assistance programs.

Patients need to bring proof of income, such as their latest tax return or last three paycheck stubs, as well as medications lists and physician information, if possible.

Most MedBank patients can get medications in as few as 10 days and at zero cost.

When needed, MedBank can temporarily fill prescriptions and refer patients to other free and low-cost clinics in and around the Savannah area.

“We’re very happy to be partnering with MedBank, and we hope this means that more people in Liberty County will hear about this amazing resource and take advantage of the services we offer,” said Jennifer Darsey, Liberty County area director for United Way.

For more information, call 368-4282 after Sept. 10.
