The Liberty County Convention and Visitors Bureau, a Camera Ready liaison to the film industry for Liberty County, has announced that a horror movie with scenes from Liberty County will be released on Dec. 2.

"SiREN" was produced by the Chiller Network by executive producers David Bruckner and Bloody Disgusting’s Brad Misak, in conjunction with Collective Digital Studio and Blue Falcon Productions.

The LCCVB assisted in finding the location for the restaurant scene and attaining a police car and log truck. The movie shot scenes at both Angie’s Diner and Ida Mae’s in Midway and used a Midway Police car, as well as a logging trailer.

The film stars William Mark McCullough of Liberty County, who has appeared in other films shot in Liberty County, including "Ben & Ara" and "My Brother’s Keeper." He also spoke at a LCCVB sponsored Progress Through People Luncheon last year. His filmography includes parts in "Free State of Jones" and "Birth of a Nation," among others.

According to a synopsis on www.imdb.com, "SiREN" is about a bachelor party becoming a fight for survival when the groomsmen unleash a fabled predator. "SiREN" is a feature adaptation of a segment, "Amateur Night" from the 2012 horror anthology "V/H/S."

The majority of the movie was shot in Savannah. Some scenes were filmed in Augusta. The production team contacted the LCCVB looking to find an older diner with large windows. LCCVB CEO Leah Poole assisted with the scouting efforts and showed them the Midway restaurants.

"The film and production crew were very friendly and pleased that we were able to help find the locations that they needed for their filming purposes," Poole said. "Miss Angie (Butler) was very exited to have a movie production use her restaurant, and we’re excited to see it on the big screen. We hope that film crews like these will spread the word that our community is film friendly."

"SiREN" opens in theaters on Dec. 2. Find "SiREN" on Facebook as SiRENMovie2016.
