The Liberty County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a two-part Labor Law Workshop from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sept. 29 and again on Oct. 27.

The first part will be held at the City of Hinesville training room located at 115 E. M.L. King, Jr. Dr. The second part will be at the Chamber office located at 425 W. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville. Local businesses and non-profit organizations with full, part-time or seasonal staff are encouraged to attend at no cost for Chamber members.

On May 18, the U.S. Department of Labor unveiled the new standards of its overtime rule, impacting exceptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act and its regulations. This ruling will affect thousands of Georgians.

"We have diligently searched for a resource to bring education of this sort to our local community," said Chamber CEO Leah Poole. "Fortunately, as members of the Georgia Chamber, we are able to ‘buy-in’ for this webinar and show it to our members at no cost to them."

Part I of the sponsored webinar series, "Explaining the Overtime Rule & Conversations to Have Now," will cover what this means to small business. Part II of the sponsored webinar series, "Preparing for Overtime Rule Compliance: Best Practices Panel," will feature a panel of business leaders and human resource professionals to share insight on how to implement this new law in small business.

Attendees at Part I of the series will receive one credit hour for HRCI/SHRM and one additional credit hour for attending Part II of the series.

The two-part workshop is free to Chamber members, but an RSVP is required. Reserve your seat today by emailing operations@libertycounty.org or call 912-368-4445.
