The Lisa Scales Team/Homes for Heroes, in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, held an open house Nov. 9 at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center.

The open house was held to officially introduce the Lisa Scales Team’s Homes for Heroes Program in Liberty County, as well as congratulate them on being the top Homes for Heroes Program affiliate nationwide in 2014.

Chamber Membership Coordinator Amber Barbaro, congratulated Scales and her team on their accomplishment and thanked them for their service as Chamber members. Along with community members, the Lisa Scales Team’s family and friends attended.

Scales started in real estate in 2008 as a licensed agent and became the sole owner of H&S Real Estate Services in 2012. In 2013, she added the Homes for Heroes Program to her business.

“That has been the best thing we have been able to offer as real-estate agents to our community,” she said.

Homes for Heroes is the nation’s largest savings program of its kind and offers discounts and rebates to firefighters, emergency medical professionals, military and veterans, law enforcement, teachers and health-care workers when buying, selling, renting or refinancing a home.

“To date, our team has given over $200,000 back to our local heroes,” said Scales.

The Lisa Scales Team also brings together different services such as lenders and investors who give discounts to those who benefit from the Homes for Heroes Program.

“We have Coastal Solar Power Company, who gives $1,500 back to the military if they use it,” said Scales. “Some of the homebuyer rebates for the soldiers can be anywhere from $500 to $5,000, depending on the purchase price of their house and whatever other services they use.”

The Lisa Scales Team wants to make sure that every qualifying person who buys a home gets something and wants the community to know that this service is available free of charge.
