Happy Tails Personalized Pet Care Services held its ribbon cutting May 20 at the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce, 425 W. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville.
Happy Trails offers grooming and overnight and daytime pet-sitting.
“I put ‘personalized’ in the title of our business because every pet is different,” said owner Barbara Nabb, who opened the business in February. “You can’t put them all in the same place and give them the same care. There are so many different factors that have to be considered in order to properly care for each animal.”
Nabb is originally from San Jose, Calif., and joined the military at age 22. She is an Iraq war veteran and retired in 2012 after 25 years of service.
Starting her own business was inspired by her family, who also own their share of small businesses.
“I’ve been surrounded by pets since I was a kid. My dad loved animals, and so we grew up with cats, dogs and parakeets,” said Nabb, who currently owns two dogs.
She volunteers at the Humane Society and is hoping to expand her business to a boarding facility so that she can take in animals from there.
Nabb noted that her business is licensed and insured and that she is certified in pet-sitting.
“Insurance is really critical for me, the customer and the pet in keeping all parties safe,” she said.
