DULUTH — As part of an ongoing effort to provide quick, easy and convenient access, the United States Postal Service has installed an automated postal center self-service kiosk at the Hinesville Post Office, 744 W. Oglethorpe Hwy.
“APCs provide a simple way for customers to weigh, calculate and apply exact postage for mailing express mail and priority mail items, packages and first-class mail letters,” said Postmaster David Taylor. “And they help provide quicker service during busy periods. Making our services available 24/7 will make it easier than ever for customers to do business with us at their convenience. Now that’s a real benefit.”
Automated postal centers provide access to postal products and services and there is no service fee. The machines accept debit and credit cards for payment of postage or to pay P.O. box rent. They also provide mailing information, ZIP code lookup and delivery confirmation service.
Post office retail associates will continue to assist customers with more complex face-to-face transactions such as mailing packages to international locations, registered mail, money order transactions and handling passport applications.
Automated postal centers have been in use at post offices since 1999. The Hinesville machine is one of 2,500 that have been installed nationwide.
