Georgia Work Ready: www.gaworkready.org

ATLANTA - Unemployed Georgians who participate in a state work training program will be eligible for money to help give their job search a boost.

Gov. Sonny Perdue announced on Wednesday that the new "Be Work Ready" initiative would give $50 or $100 gift cards to those who earn a state work ready certificate or who improve their job skills through free, online training. The money is designed to help offset job search expenses.

The program will be funded with about $4 million in federal stimulus dollars.

Perdue said the program is intended "to inject confidence into Georgia's unemployed population."

To be eligible you must be 18 or older and unemployed. Those who've earned a work ready certificate since September 2008 are eligible to apply.
