Three homes in the upscale Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill will be auctioned off at the end of this month.
The first auction will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 652 Silk Hope Drive. The home is 6,000-square-foot with five bedrooms and five bathrooms. It also has private water frontage.
The home was lived in for two years, and the owners chose to auction off the home instead of selling it, according to Stacy Kirk Reich, president of Grand Estates Auction Company, which is handling the auction. The property is valued at around $3 million.
The auction is an absolute auction, meaning there is no minimum bid on this home, according to a press release issued by Grand Estates Auction Company of Charlotte, N.C. Bidders must register for the auction and submit a refundable $50,000 cashier’s or certified check prior to the auction.
Prospective bidders can tour the home starting at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22. Call 877-427-6568 or (704) 529-0026, or visit www.grandestatesauction.com for more information.
John Dixon & Associates of Marietta will manage the auction of the other two homes in Ford Plantation at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29. The sale will take place at the homes, located at 432 and 446 Ogeechee Lane.
The bidding starts at $350,000 for each house, according to a press release issued by John Dixon & Associates.
The 2,787-square-foot homes, which were both once listed for more than $1 million, according to the release, are not foreclosed properties. The three-bedroom houses were built at the end of the housing boom and never sold, said Carl Carter, a spokesperson for the auction agency.
“The owner … just decided that they needed to take loss and sell them at auction,” he said.
Both of the two-story homes up for auction have views of the Ogeechee River and the Yacht Basin, according to the press release.
Online bidding is available. Inspections will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 22 to 26. Call 800-479-1763 for more information.
Ford Plantation was purchased by Sterling Bluff Associates in 1998, according to the plantation’s website. The 1,800-acre plantation boasts 400 homes.
