Tourists spend $86M here in 2010

Visitors to Liberty County generated $86.66 million in direct tourism spending in 2010, according to recently released numbers from the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Office of Tourism.
Tourism created 550 jobs in Liberty County. On an average day, Liberty County tourists spent $237,424.00 on tourism-related expenses in 2010.
The numbers are tabulated by the state every year and typically run a year behind.
“The Liberty County tourism industry showed positive gains in 2010, and we’re continuing to see that momentum build in 2012,” Flemington Mayor Sandra Martin of the Liberty County Convention and Visitors Bureau said.
